Music project

The students and teachers of Vilnius J. Tallat-Kelpša conservatory are participating in the international project of Erasmus+ programme "Music
to decrease inequality at school".
This year, in April, the student group exchange programme took place in Lithuania and it was attended by students and teachers from schools of Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Lithuania.
In getting ready for the meeting in Vilnius, the students along with the teachers prepared presentations on classical music, the most famous composers and the performers as well as  on the education system of their countries.
The participants of the programme assembled in the Vilnius conservatory. The students of each country performed the concert programme which had specially been prepared for the meeting at home.

All week the students spent together rehearsing, organizing the concerts, improvising, travelling and arranging parties.
The participants of the meeting listened to the conservatory students and the school Big Band's concert. After the concert, the students and teachers were invited to learn some Lithuanian folk songs and dances being taught by the conservatory students themselves. Later, the evening of improvisation took place in which anyone was welcomed to play.
In the final concert, the students of all countries performed several contractual, Lithuanian folk songs, panpipes tunes which had been  prepared along with teacher Violeta Čiūtiene.
Rytas Svilainis composed the meeting anthem which was performed by all participants together. The anthem and some more songs were learned with the assistance of teachers Valeria Skapienė and Janina Kalinaitė.
Students from different countries together prepared the pieces of music:
Justina with Gabriela from Portugal played the Lithuanian folk song "Lietus lynojo", Adam with Simone from Italy sang the Neapolitan song "O, Sole, mio" , and Simon with Alexandra from Romania performed the Lithuanian folk song " Šią naktelę", teacher Kristina with flutist Antonio, the teacher from Italy, played Andante by W. A. Mozart.
A pleasant surprise was that the songs of G. Paškevičiaus were sung in the  Listuanian language by Turkish group and the song performed by our student Diana Mozoleva in Turkish.
Also, we went to the Aukštaitija national park on the educational-cultural programme as well as we visited Trakai.
During the exchange programme, the teachers and the students got acquainted with the Lithuanian history, culture, architectural monuments. The students improved their English, made new friends, experienced new things. The teachers shared their best practices, were acquainted with the colleagues'  working methods. I think this meeting really helped everyone to become more creative, to acquire new competencies.
